An R-Series automatic softener valve with BFT technology protects against dirty and salty water by halting the regeneration process during a water shortage. This prevents incompletely rinsed, salty, and dirty water from contaminating the home’s water supply.

How BFT technology prevents contamination?

“BFT” stands for a specific innovation developed by companies like ORG Engitech. In water softeners, the technology prevents contamination through a specific process.

A conventional automatic softener requires regeneration of its resin beads with a concentrated salt (brine) solution. If the water supply stops during this cycle, the timer continues, but the regeneration and rinsing never complete properly. When the water supply returns, the un-rinsed, salty, and dirty water is pushed into the main water tank.

The BFT valve solves this problem by:

1. Halting the timer: The valve is integrated with a low-pressure switch that detects a loss of water supply during the regeneration cycle.
2. Pausing the cycle: When low pressure is detected, the regeneration timer is automatically paused until the water supply is restored.
3. Ensuring a complete rinse: This allows the cycle to resume from where it left off once the water flow is back, ensuring a full and proper rinse.
