In an industrial reverse osmosis (RO) plant, a high-pressure switch (HPS) plays a crucial role in safeguarding the system and ensuring its efficient operation.

Preventing Overpressure: The primary function of an HPS is to monitor the pressure within the RO system, especially downstream of the high-pressure pump and before the membranes. If the pressure exceeds a pre-defined safety limit, the HPS automatically shuts off the high-pressure pump, preventing potential damage to the RO membranes, pipes, and other components due to excessive pressure buildup.

Protecting Membranes: RO membranes are delicate and can be damaged by prolonged exposure to high pressures. The HPS acts as a safety mechanism, ensuring that the pressure remains within the membrane’s acceptable operating range, thus extending their lifespan and maintaining optimal filtration performance.
