LPS

Low-pressure switches (LPS) are safety devices in reverse osmosis (RO) water purification systems that monitor the incoming water pressure. If the pressure drops below a pre-determined minimum, the LPS automatically shuts off the system.

This mechanism serves several crucial functions

Protects the RO pump from dry running:

• Operating a pump without sufficient water flow can cause overheating and damage.
• Safeguards the RO membrane: Low pressure can reduce the efficiency and lifespan of the delicate RO membrane.
• Ensures system longevity and operational efficiency: By preventing damage to key components like the pump and membrane, the LPS helps extend the overall lifespan of the RO system and ensures consistent water filtration.
• Contributes to energy savings: The LPS prevents the RO system from running unnecessarily when there’s no incoming water, thus reducing power consumption.
